Srinagar, Mar 09: Hakeem Yaseen, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a substantial employment package for the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir, including the regularization of approximately 60,000 daily-rated workers.
He made this appeal during a public meeting at Kheeri Gund in the Charari Sharief Constituency, a party statement issued here said.
Yaseen said the people of Jammu & Kashmir have high expectations from Prime Minister Modi, especially regarding the restoration of statehood, as promised in the Indian Parliament. He stressed the importance of an early announcement regarding the restoration of statehood to meet the socio-political aspirations of the people.
The PDF chairman suggested that while the rollout of developmental schemes is routine, addressing the urgent needs of the youth, such as job creation and relief from the power crisis, is paramount. He expressed hope that Prime Minister Modi would rise to the occasion and grant the people their democratic right to elect their own public representatives by announcing early assembly elections.
Yaseen said holding early assembly elections is important to address the aspirations of the people. He cautioned the people against “trusting dubious political parties driven by power lust”, and urged the voters to evaluate candidates based on their performance and goodwill among the masses rather than emotional appeals.
The former minister urged the people to defeat “opportunistic” political parties in the forthcoming elections and said that votes should be cast based on merit and track record rather than emotional manipulation.
