Jammu, Aug 30: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Wednesday said Congress will become the number one party in J&K in the upcoming elections.
“Winds of change are sweeping through J&K. In a big boost to the Congress party’s prospects, more and more people are aligning with us to take the message of love and prosperity forward. This is evidence that the voice of the people of the state is in favour of the Congress and that our march is on the right track, towards power,” Bhalla said while addressing new entrants who joined Congress under the leadership of well-known social and political figure Heena Bhatti at Haji Mustafa Colony Sunjwan, the party said in a statement.
“It was not about the fight for power but a fight for freedom from the anti-people policies of the government,” he said.
The JKPCC leader added, “The Congress Party worked for decades to foster social tranquillity, and brotherhood by uniting people in trying to make people submit to the nation. The top leadership of the party has been trying to provide opportunities to people of all hues, communities and beliefs without any discrimination.”
Welcoming the new entrants into Congress, Bhalla congratulated them and said, “It is the Congress Party alone which has served the people to the best of their ability as the party feels duty bound to the wellbeing of the people in J&K. Congress has always taken care of urges and aspiration of every section of the State and it will continue to safeguard their interests. Every day, people from every district of Jammu and Kashmir join our party. It is a good thing.”
Bhalla said Congress worked tirelessly to instill democratic values among its workers while striving hard to strengthen the secular and democratic values in society in the country. “History provides proof that the Congress Party made all-out efforts to percolate the sense of responsibility, significance of the unity, the sacredness of democratic values and its institutions as well as the sanctity of the constitution down to the grassroots level,” he said.
The democracy in this country grew stronger by day due to the untiring efforts of the Congress Party. And today if the Indian democracy is looked up to for emulation, the credit goes to the Congress, he said.
“Except hoodwinking the gullible masses by raking up emotive issues, the BJP has done nothing to solve basic problems of the people,” he said, adding, “Every section of society be it youth, women, working-class, weaker sections, and minorities are bearing the brunt of the wrong policies of BJP.”
