DC Ramban chairs high level meeting, calls for inter-departmental coordination
Ramban, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary chaired a high-level meeting to review the Action Plan for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, focusing on seamless logistical, security, and infrastructural arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kulbir Singh, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak, ACR S. Harpal Singh, CPO Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Zargar, SDM Ramsoo Ghansham Basotra, along with senior officials from Fire and Emergency Services, Health, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), PWD, JPDCL, Jal Shakti Department, and other key stakeholders.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised meticulous planning and interdepartmental coordination to ensure a well-organised and hassle-free pilgrimage. He directed all departments to work on a comprehensive strategy covering accommodation, sanitation, healthcare, power and water supply, road connectivity, and security measures.
The PWD, JPDCL, and Jal Shakti Departments were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply while executing necessary civil works and infrastructure upgrades at key sites, including Yatri Niwas, Langar locations, and designated lodgement centres. The PWD was also tasked with improving sanitation facilities to maintain hygiene and safety standards for pilgrims.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) were directed to formulate a detailed sanitation plan focusing on proper waste disposal, maintenance of public conveniences, and hygiene management at critical transit points in Ramban and Banihal.
Given the unpredictable weather and terrain, the Fire and Emergency Services Department was asked to devise a comprehensive contingency plan to address fire hazards, medical emergencies, and rescue operations at key locations, including Yatri Niwas Chanderkote, Langar sites, Yatra Camp Lamber, and Banihal. The status of road connectivity along NH-44, from Nashri to Banihal, was reviewed, with the Deputy Commissioner instructing relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement throughout the Yatra period. The PWD and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were directed to carry out road maintenance, landslide prevention measures, and traffic regulation strategies to avoid disruptions. Security remained paramount, with SSP Kulbir Singh and other law enforcement officials tasked with formulating a sector-wise security plan. The Deputy Commissioner stressed foolproof security arrangements, including deployment of police personnel, CCTV surveillance, and crowd management strategies to ensure the safety of devotees.
Concluding the meeting, DC Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling experience for Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrims. He urged all departments to maintain close coordination and proactive planning to address any potential challenges, ensuring the Yatra is conducted smoothly and efficiently.
