Committed to protect, revitalise historical assets, religious places: DC Sgr

Srinagar, Jan 21: In order to review the progression of the heritage preservation projects in the district, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat where he stated that the administration was committed to protect and revitalise historical assets and religious places in the district.
At the outset, DC highlighted the significant cultural value of Srinagar’s architectural heritage, underscoring the critical need to preserve these historical assets as symbols of the district’s identity and legacy. He laid emphasis on collaborative frameworks in restoration practices to conserve architecture of the identified sites on heritage patterns.
Dr Bilal remarked that protecting Srinagar’s architectural heritage is essential for cultural continuity and tourism promotion besides religious aspects.
On the occasion, the DC directed for constituting an Experts Team that will visit all sites and share a conservation report with the executing agencies so that preservation, revival, maintenance projects on identified sites in Srinagar District including Aali Masjid, Vicharnag Temple, Ziyarat Naqashband Sahib, Zeathyar Narayan Mutt temple, Solina, and Baba Ghulam-U-Din Shrine.
During the meeting, the DC also held interaction with the different stakeholders and received their feedback for ensuring smooth and sustainable progression of the heritage preservation projects. He directed all departments involved to expedite efforts and collaborate closely to ensure the effective implementation of heritage preservation projects.
The DC reiterated the Administration’s commitment to protect and revitalize Srinagar’s historical assets and religious places, ensuring they are preserved for future generations to appreciate and learn from.
Besides, Chief Planning Officer, the meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer R&B, Executive Engineers of R&B, Officers from Archives, Archaeology & Museums Kashmir, experts from Kashmir University, SKUAST, INTACH and other concerned.
