Pulwama, Dec 15 : The Chief Education Officer’s office at the Mini-Secretariat in the DC Complex, Pulwama, has issued a resolute circular, stressing the imperative adherence to winter vacation guidelines for all government and government-recognised private schools up to class 8.
The circular, dated 13 December, 2023, underscores the official announcement of winter vacations by the government, spanning from December 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024.
However, disconcerting reports have surfaced, with the Chief Education Officer’s office receiving complaints about specific schools flouting these government directives.
The order mentions that parents and field reports reveal that certain institutions persist in regular schooling activities during the designated vacation period.
“Some private schools float the guidelines by conducting coaching within the schools,” CEO, Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom said, adding that they raided few schools violating the norms and locked them.
The CEO said that this not only contravenes established guidelines but also disrupts the intended respite for both students and teachers.
The CEO informed that such practice is done to justify charging tuition fee and other dues from students.
Taking a strong note of the grievance the Chief Education Officer’s office firmly asserts that such practices lack justification under the prevailing rules and regulations.
In response to these concerns, the circular unequivocally reiterates a stern warning to all heads of institutions and managing bodies, urging immediate cessation of any violations.
It underscores the significance of adhering to the already-issued directions by the department.
The circular concludes by forewarning that any non-compliance with these directives will be met with strict actions, following established rules and guidelines.
This decisive stance aims to ensure educational institutions conform to the prescribed vacation period, refraining from imposing undue financial burdens on parents.
Parents and stakeholders are actively encouraged to report instances of non-compliance, as the Chief Education Officer’s office actively seeks to uphold the integrity of the academic calendar and safeguard the rights of students and their families in Pulwama.
