Ramban, Feb 23: The two-day Integrated Outreach and Communication Programme (ICOP) on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) organised by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Field Office Doda concluded at Ramban on Thursday. Chairperson District Development Council Ramban, Dr. Shamshada Shan was the chief guest at the valedictory function.
The outreach programme was organised with the aim to generate mass awareness regarding the ongoing campaign of AKAM and Centrally-sponsored schemes by the bureau.
While addressing the gathering outside the conference hall of the DC Office, Ramban, the chief guest said, “This exhibition depicts the long history of the Freedom Movement in India and is more appealing in a unique way.”
While appreciating the efforts of the CBC, the Chairperson said that a lot of work has been done to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people of Ramban district. She urged the CBC J&K to organise more such programmes in far-flung and remote pockets of the district in future too.
Ghulam Abbas, Joint Director, CBC, UTs of J&K & Ladakh gave an overview of various IEC activities being carried out by the department in J&K & Ladakh. He highlighted the importance of such programmes which play a pivotal role in spreading awareness about various policies and programmes of the government.
A galaxy of experts from the police, banks, ICDS, Govt Polytechnic College, etc. delivered a keynote address on various components including drug addiction, its bad effects on society and means to curb it.
Khursheed Yousuf, Field Publicity Officer, CBC Field Office, Udhampur presented an overview, structure and working of the CBC, J&K during the event. He said that CBC is engaged in generating awareness in rural, far-flung and media-shadow zones regarding the welfare schemes of the Government of India.
On the occasion, an open quiz competition related to the Indian Freedom Movement and unsung heroes was also organised and prizes were given away to the winners. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Gurnam Singh from CBC Udhampur while Ruhi Kundal moderated the proceedings.
