Srinagar, Feb 14: Even as a private school in Srinagar claims that it has a proper registration, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (J&KBOSE) has taken a tough stand against the school citing “discrepancies nailed by the inquiry panel.”
Amid this fiasco, the fate of 22 students hangs in balance as their parents have now approached the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for relief given the fact exams are knocking at their doors.
“Acting on a complaint, we found some discrepancies in the school operations. The fact is that the school was never affiliated to BOSE. It was never part of the BOSE eco-system,” a BOSE official told Rising Kashmir.
He said that BOSE is responsible for the affiliation from class 9th to 12th while up to 8th, School Education Department (SED) manages the affairs. “The school in question was running a dummy school at Natipora which is against the ethics and schooling practices. We are bound to follow rules.”

BOSE INQUIRY
An official communique dated July 26, 2024, the subject of which reads that illegitimate/unauthorised conduct of classes 9th and 10th by the Islamic Global School Mehjoor Nagar, Srinagar and the request for initiation of penal action thereof.
“Consequent upon the receipt of the above referred to the complaint by this office it has been reported that the above-named school has although adopted the BOSE prescribed curriculum and the textbooks, yet they have also resorted to the prescription of some additional text books of private publishers. Besides, the (inquiry) committee has also observed that the concerned school management has resorted to unauthorised conduct of classes of 9th and 10th by adopting proxy in connivances with the Scholars School Natipora, Srinagar notwithstanding that the former school stands recognise by the Government up to class 8 only.”
“In the backdrop of the above, I am by the directions to request your good self to ask the erring management of the above-named academic institution to close down their authorised operation of twin classes – 9th and 10th immediately with further stipulation to explain as to how these classes were /are being conducted in contravention to standing rules governing the subject the recognition/affiliation and the recognition status of the school,” the official document reads.
It further stated that the action as warranted under rules is also being initiated against the academic institution namely Scholars School Natipora, Srinagar for omission and commission of awful practice of proxy.

Official Communique about tagging of students of IGS
An official communique available with the Rising Kashmir reads, that apropos to the subject and reference cited above and in reference to this office communique dated July 26, 2024 wherein it was highlighted that the school management of the Islamic Global School, Mehjoor Nagar, Srinagar has resorted to unauthorized operations of Classes 9h/10th and further it was requested to ask the erring management of the school to close down the unauthorized operation of the said classes immediately, it is submitted that the Academic Institution namely Islamic Global School, Mehjoor Nagar, Srinagar, in view of its illegitimate and unauthorized operations of Classes /10, has been tagged with the nearby Government School for the current Academic Session, 2024-25 by the office vide communiqué under reference, albeit the schools was not Affiliated with the J&K BOSE to run classes 9/10.
“However, in consonance to the legal opinion and taking the gravity of the issue into consideration, the authorities have desired to seek clarification whether the administrative approval for tagging of such students has been secured prior to the issue of such communiqué, as the authority of facilitating the schools to operate classes 9 to 12th, falls within the domain of the Administrative Department, School Education Department/ J&K BOSE and the practice of tagging of schools is adopted in inevitable situations in respect of schools which were are on the establishment of the J&K BOSE,” the document reads, adding that it is pertinent to mention, that the instant school has willfully deceived the system and has adopted ill-practices to achieve the nefarious goals of minting money from the gullible parents.

School approaches court, parents approach CM
A school functionary of the IGS said that they have approached the court for the relief as the career of students is at stake. Meanwhile, parents have also approached the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in a bid to ensure the academic year of their students doesn’t go to waste. “It is the question of dozens of students whose exams are almost at their doorsteps. We have written to the Chief Minister and also the education minister Sakina Itoo about the matter. We are hopeful that some relief would come and the hard work of our children won’t go to waste,” a parent said, wishing not to be named.
