He was addressing the audience at the district-level export awareness workshop in Kathua.
The ambitious one-day district-level export awareness workshop was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) for the promotion of export of products from Kathua district. Representatives of various departments presented their presentations and told about the schemes of the government for promotion of exports of products from Jammu & Kashmir.
Sanjay Chawla, Additional Executive Director and Head of Regional Office, Ludhiana WWEPC made a presentation on WWEPC and explained the activities of the council in detail for the promotion of exports.
Romesh Khajuria said that the Trade & Handicraft sectors in Jammu province not given its due share for its development by previous state and centre governments is the reason that most of the crafts of Jammu region are at languishing stage.
“Crafts like Samba print, Basoli Pashmina shawls, Basholi paintings, Namdas, blankets, Chickry wood craft, Coochiet, etc. discouraged by the old governments and no infrastructure like CFC (common facility centre) or craft development centres created at district levels in Jammu region,” he said, adding that weavers/cooperative societies of Kathua district are facing the raw material problem of Pashmina.
Khajuria appreciated the vision of Khalid Jahangir, MD JKTPO and efforts of JKTPO team for successfully conducting district level export level workshops in one after the other districts. He also complimented the initiatives taken the officers of JKTPO by bringing the centre & UT government departments like WWEP, FIEO, APEDA, Invest India, ECGC, Handloom & Handicraft Department J&K, DIC Kathua and Entrepreneurs, artisans, Cooperative societies, women entrepreneurs and others on a common platform for the promotion of exports.
Romesh Khajuria appealed to the manufacturers and artisans to connect themselves with JKTPO to take benefits of their marketing promotion schemes as they are sponsoring various entrepreneurs to national & international events conducted by WWEPC and other departments.
“With the participation in these events the new business leaders will emerge to boost the economy of J&K,” Khajuria said, while narrating his own story of journey in emerging as successful leader in the business fraternity.
