New Delhi, July 09: President DroupadiMurmu on Tuesday termed the terrorist attack on an Army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir a “cowardly act” and said it deserved condemnation and firm counter-measures.
Five Army personnel were killed and as many injured on Monday when a group of heavily-armed terrorists ambushed a patrolling party in the Badnota area in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. This terror attack was the fifth in the Jammu region in a month.
In a post on X, Murmu said, “My sympathies are with the families of the bravehearts who laid down their lives in this ongoing war against terror in its all forms. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
“The attack on a convoy of Army personnel in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir by terrorists is a cowardly act that deserves condemnation and firm counter-measures. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” the President said.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday condemned the deadly terror attack in Kathua in which five soldiers lost their lives and said that the people behind the attack will be punished soon.
In a post on X, LG Sinha said, “I salute the bravery of our army personnel, who lost their lives in a dastardly terror attack in Kathua. Deepest condolences to bereaved families of martyrs. Coordinated counter-terror operations are underway and the perpetrators of this attack will be punished soon.”
Ministry of Defence expressed extended “deepest” condolences to the bereaved families of the soldiers who lost their lives.
Five Army soldiers were killed and as many as were injured in an ambush by terrorists in Katha district of Jammu and Kashmir on July 8.
Since June 9, there have been terror strikes at four places in Reasi, Kathua and Doda in which nine pilgrims and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan were killed. A civilian and at least seven security personnel were also injured.
