Srinagar, Apr 08: Students of Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, near Chandigarh, organised an “Iftar” party at the Aryans Campus to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. Singers Alaap & Sarang Sikandar, along with Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman of Aryans Group, addressed the students during the event.
During the Iftar party, dates, bananas, biryani, kheer, and juice were distributed to the Kashmiri students as they broke their fast. Dr Anshu Kataria congratulated everyone, noting that a majority of the students at Aryans Group are from Jammu & Kashmir. He said that previously, students from Jammu & Kashmir, along with staff, had organised Iftar parties in Srinagar as well.
Alaap & Sarang expressed their happiness to learn about the development of the Ramadan App by Aryans JK students. The Ramadan App, an Android app, assists the Muslim community in managing their time during Ramadan, particularly helping with variations in Sehar time due to biological or physical factors.
Various faculty members of the Aryans Group, including Er Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, Er Jahangir Rashid, Er Shahid Lone, Er Rayees Ahmad, Er Mehran Wani, Shahid Bashir, Abrar Ahmad, Amir Akbar, Shakir Ahmad, and Aadil Farooq, were present during the occasion.
Iftar is a meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast after sunset every day during Ramadan. While fasting, they eat before sunrise and then abstain from food and drink until sunset when they break their fast with an Iftar meal. Timing is crucial during Ramadan, with the calendar guiding the start and end times for fasting and breaking the fast.
