Srinagar, Dec 02: The Indian Army, in its commitment to creating a positive impact on the local community, organised a two-day job fair at Chinar Nau Jawan Club, Boniyar on December 1-2, 2023.
Aimed at providing a common platform for local youth seeking employment opportunities and employers, the job fair witnessed enthusiastic participation, drawing nearly 2500 youth from Jammu and Kashmir for around 600 job vacancies, PRO Defence said in a statement issued here.
This event was conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Employment, J&K, which facilitated the convergence of employers from within the Union Territory and beyond. The job fair covered a spectrum of sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and handlooms, offering diverse job options for aspiring candidates.
“The initiative not only focused on job placements but also disseminated information about various institutional schemes designed to foster self-employment, along with details about available financial aid schemes. The participation of private firms further enriched the event, providing employment opportunities for individuals with varied skill sets,” he said.
In line with the evolving technological landscape, the job fair incorporated online interviews conducted by different employers using the newly established IT Lab. The distribution of appointment letters, Corporate Social Responsibility donations for Vocational Training Centres, and the recognition of technical qualifications added significant milestones to the event’s success.
“The job fair exemplifies the Indian Army’s holistic approach to promoting economic growth in the region while fortifying the harmonious bond between the Army and citizens,” the PRO added.
