Jammu, Aug 16: Apni Party Senior Vice President, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Wednesday expressed concern over the “inordinate delay in the restoration of the democratic system” in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it has given rise to the feeling of alienation from the administration, and the gap between the government and people has widened.
“The elected government is answerable to the people. Therefore, the elected government must replace the present form of governance that would be responsible for bringing more transparency and accountability,” he said while addressing the party leadership of Jammu, frontal heads, district presidents, heads of different cells and wings at Gandhi Nagar Office.
The meeting was held to intensify the outreach programme across the Jammu region. On the occasion, Mir directed the party cadre to gear up for the upcoming Urban Local Body and Panchayati Raj elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The outreach programme should be intensified and the people should be educated about the policy and agenda of equitable development of Apni Party,” he said and asked them to gear up for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies, and Panchayati Raj elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mir said that Apni Party believes that natural resources should be used sustainably with an aim to upgrade the living standard of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, he criticised the politics of the “regional and religious divide” and asked the party cadre to work for unity and equal development in both regions. “There is no place for hate and regional or religious divide in the Apni Party. The people have already suffered a lot due to the divisive politics of the traditional political parties. We shall come out and work for the unity of Jammu and Kashmir and its people in all the regions,” he added.
Apni Party believes in the politics of realism and equitable development in J&K, he said, adding, “The ground-level workers have a very important role to promote the unity and feeling of brotherhood among the people.”
