Srinagar, May 28: Over 500 displaced Kashmiri Pandits from various parts of the country congregated at the revered shrine of Mata Zeashta Devi, nestled amidst the scenic vistas of the Shankaracharya mountain overlooking the iconic Dal Lake. They participated in the annual Maha Yagya, offering fervent prayers for peace in Kashmir.
Organised by the Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee (ZDPC), the solemn Maha Yagya ceremony resonated with the sacred chants, bhajans, and heartfelt prayers of the devotees.
Drawing a significant gathering from diverse corners of the nation, the event commenced with the initiation of the sacred rituals. The event was preceded by the release of the 10th edition of the magazine “Zeashta Sandesh”.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response, committee members underscored the community’s collective prayers for peace and the eventual repatriation to their ancestral homeland.
Social activist Sunil Kaul from Gurgaon highlighted that the temple’s upkeep is solely reliant on funds pooled within the community, with no government support thus far. He urged the government to extend assistance in maintaining the temple premises.
