Jammu, July 02: In a harrowing incident near Nachlana, Banihal, seven persons, including organizers and workers of langars for the ShriAmarnathjiYatra, along with several tourists, sustained injuries after they jumped out of a bus in panic due to brake failure.
The incident occurred when the driver of the bus, carrying 40 pilgrims returning to Hoshiarpur in Punjab, informed the passengers about the brake failure. The Army spokesman reported that the driver was unable to stop the vehicle upon reaching Nachlana due to the malfunction.
Quick action by the Army’s Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police averted a major tragedy. Army jawans and JK Police personnel made repeated attempts to halt the bus by placing stones beneath its tires, preventing it from plunging into the Nalaveh.
SSP RambanAnuj Kumar told Rising Kashmir, “Seven people jumped out of the bus in panic after learning about the brake failure.” He added, “All the injured suffered minor injuries and have been discharged.”
The Army’s Quick Reaction Teams, along with an ambulance, responded instantly, providing necessary medical assistance and first aid to all injured individuals at a local medical facility in Nachlana.
