Srinagar, May 25: The Awami Ittehaad Party (AIP), after visiting several border villages in of Karnah and Chowkibal areas of district Kupwara affected by recent cross-border shelling, has called on the government to expedite rehabilitation for the displaced and suffering families.
The delegation led by Abrar Rashid, son of incarcerated Member of Parliament (MP), Baramulla, Er Rashid, surveyed the extensive damages in villages including Dildar Batpora, Terbuni, Dhani, Gabra, Hajinar, Baghbella, and Shamspora, the party said in a statement.
The delegation comprised senior AIP leaders Fayaz Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad Wani, Naseer Ahmad Mir, Aijaz Yousuf, Aijaz Ahmad Thakur, Syed Liyaqat and Raja Waqar.
Residents expressed deep frustration over delays in relief and rehabilitation, with many families still struggling without proper assistance, the statement said.
The AIP also strongly appealed to insurance companies to honour their claims promptly, criticising them for allegedly creating unnecessary hurdles and refusing payouts without clear justification.
