Srinagar, Oct 10: The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has established an interim leadership framework, following a day-long meeting on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
A four-member committee has been tasked with forming the party structure, which will include roles from District Presidents to the Vice President level, the party said in a statement.
This interim setup will last for one year after which formal elections will be conducted. The party aims to complete a membership drive by November 10, 2024.
The newly appointed office-bearers include Advocate G N Shaheen, Vice President; Nazir Ahmad Khan (DDC Chairman Budgam), General Secretary; Inam Un Nabi, Chief Spokesperson; Sheikh Ashiq, State Secretary; Prince Parveez, Provincial President Kashmir; Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chief Coordinator; Ajaz Ahmad Lone, Organizer; and Parveez Ahmad Bhat, Treasurer.
At the district level, Raja Waheed has been appointed District President for Shopian, and Advocate Javeed Ahmad Mir as District President for Kupwara.
For media operations, Riyaz Ahmad Sofi will serve as Spokesperson for south Kashmir, while Advocate Majid Banday and Advocate Shahnawaz Abdullah will act as spokespersons for north Kashmir. Muzaffar Ahmad Dar will take on the role of Media Incharge for north Kashmir, and Mohammad Arif Dar will oversee media efforts for south Kashmir. All media personnel will work under the guidance of the Chief Spokesperson to ensure coordinated communication.
AIP president and Member of Parliament (MP) for Baramulla, Er Rashid expressed optimism that this structure will enhance discipline and strengthen the party’s capacity to serve the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
“This interim phase is a crucial step towards creating a transparent and democratic party structure, with formal elections planned for one year from now,” he said.
The party has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the sentiments and aspirations of the people with accountable and responsive leadership.
