Jammu, Aug 18: The Red Ribbon Club of GGM Science College, Jammu, in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, Monday organised an Induction Programme under the IEC Intensified Campaign 2025 with the objective of sensitising students and youth about the ill effects of HIV/AIDS and the measures for its prevention.A statement issued here said that the programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Rozi Bamba, followed by introductory speech of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh K. Gupta, Principal of the College wherein he, emphasised the pivotal role of youth in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS and highlighted that the younger generation can create a ripple effect by educating communities on preventive healthcare. He further underlined that HIV/AIDS is not just a health issue but also a social and humanitarian challenge, urging students to become ambassadors of awareness by promoting compassion, knowledge, and responsibility to fight stigma. The initiative aimed at mobilising youth volunteers through the Red Ribbon Club to act as agents of change by conducting awareness drives, peer education, and community outreach programmes. Faculty members, coordinators, and student volunteers actively participated in the event, which concluded with an interactive session where participants pledged their commitment to promoting awareness, empathy, and preventive practices. The event reaffirmed the joint vision of GGM Science College and J&K AIDS Control Society to strengthen awareness, dispel misconceptions, and encourage responsible behaviour among the youth, contributing towards the goal of building an AIDS-free society.
