Srinagar, Mar 16: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday said the incumbent Lieutenant Governor-led administration has “abjectly failed” to deliver on the daunting issues, particularly of providing electricity during Iftar and Sehri times, faced by people in Kashmir.
NC’s state spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said this after receiving reports of massive power outages across the Kashmir province during Iftar and Sehri times, the party said in a statement issued here.
“The people who had called upon the state spokesperson also apprised him how the skyrocketing prices and inadequate supply of electricity have dampened their Ramadan festivities,” the NC said.
Dar said, “Unfortunately, the administration has left the people to fend for themselves. It was expected of the administration to rise to the demands of the people by ensuring them all basic and effective amenities. But the administration seems to have no compassion for the people who continue to hanker for basic and effective amenities.”
He said the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) has adversely affected lakhs of APL and BPL consumers in J&K. “The ambiguous categorization of consumer enrolment undertaken by the former BJP-PDP government has made it all more difficult for the people to run their households,” he said
Imran said that during the holy month of Ramadan, there is an exponential increase in the demands of people especially for sugar. “It was expected of the incumbent governor administration to rise up to the occasion and increase the quota of ration, especially sugar during the month of Ramadan, but to our dismay, nothing was done in that direction as well,” he added.
