Srinagar, Apr 23: The Additional Director General of Police, Anand Jain, Tuesday undertook a visit to Rajouri to oversee and reinforce security measures in Rajouri, where terrorists shot dead a civilian in Kunda village of the district.
A police officer said that ADGP Jain conducted a security review meeting at Rajouri which was attended by key stakeholders including senior police officials, and served as a platform to assess the existing security landscape and strategize for enhanced vigilance.
During the meeting, ADGP Jammu was briefed about the security measures put in place to tackle any untoward incident across the Rajouri-Poonch districts as well as Jammu Province.
“Discussions revolved around various aspects of security, encompassing threat assessments, countermeasures, and collaborative efforts among security agencies. He stressed upon the enhanced security related measures to be taken and proactive operations to be launched against terrorist network support in Rajouri,” he said.
The police said that during the meeting, it was stressed to maintain surveillance in the area by all stakeholders in wake of forthcoming election in the area to prevent any action by Anti-Social Elements.
“There is urgent need to leverage technology for the identification of terror networks and also stress was laid on use of data analytics for enhancing functional efficiency. It was also directed to generate actionable inputs to thwart attempts of anti-national elements to disturb the GPE-2024,” the officer said.
He said that meeting underscored the imperative of synergy and coordination among different security agencies to ensure seamless conduct of upcoming elections and to address any emerging security challenges effectively.
Meanwhile the meeting was attended by following Officers: R. Gopala Krishna Rao, IG CRPF Jammu Sector, Tejinder Singh-IPS, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Anand Kumar Rajparohit, DIG CRPF and Sub-Divisional Police Officers and SHOs of Rajouri district.
On Monday, a civilian Mohammad Razaq was shot dead soon after he came out of a mosque at ShadraSharief area of Rajouri. He died of his injuries in a hospital. The 40-year-old was an employee in the social welfare department.
