Jammu, May 12: The anticipated visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, slated for May 12, stands canceled. The decision, attributed to Singh’s demanding schedule, particularly focused on election engagements in Uttar Pradesh, has led to the cancellation of his scheduled address at a mega public rally in Kargil. BJP leader Vikram Randhawa conveyed this development, emphasizing Singh’s commitment to electoral priorities.
Former Union Minister Kirin Rijiju has already commenced campaigning in Leh, rallying in support of BJP candidate Tashi Gyalson. Joining the campaign trail, another former Union Minister, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, is set to embark on a visit to Leh-Ladakh from May 13 to 15, dedicatedly amplifying BJP’s electoral narrative.
With Ladakh’s Lok Sabha seat slated for polls on May 20, the J&K unit of the BJP has sprung into action, mobilizing its cadre and senior leaders to intensify campaigning efforts. A comprehensive strategy has been devised, with BJP workers and leaders from J&K scheduled to converge in Ladakh, bolstering grassroots outreach.
In a bid to ensure comprehensive coverage, the BJP has appointed ‘Panna Pramukhs’ tasked with canvassing each page of the voter list, ensuring outreach to every household. Notably, the BJP, having clinched the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 elections, has fielded Tashi Gyalson as its candidate for the 2024 polls, signaling a shift in electoral dynamics.
