Srinagar, May 02: People’s Democratic Party Youth President and parliamentary candidate for the Srinagar-Pulwama constituency, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra on Thursday met with dozens of lawyers associated with the Pulwama Bar Association at their office in the south Kashmir district.
According to a statement issued here, Parra engaged in an hour-long political interaction and debate with the Pulwama Bar Association. He expressed gratitude to the members for a “wonderful and insightful” session, saying that it had been 20 years since the bar last opened its doors to such dialogue, marking a significant moment of progress.
Lawyers on the occasion raised their long-pending demands, seeking quick resolution. Parra promised that he would personally handle and follow up on their issues if voted, urging the lawyers to vote and support the PDP in the upcoming elections.
Welcoming him, the Pulwama Bar Association said they felt proud that someone from Pulwama was going to represent them in Parliament, the statement said.
Parra said the PDP is contesting the Lok Sabha elections to “break the silence” prevailing for the last couple of years in Kashmir, adding that the people are showing their love and affection towards the party, which gives them positive vibes.
He said the ongoing Lok Sabha elections are more like a chance for the PDP to reach out to the people, as they want to “break the silence” and show solidarity with the people.
Parra highlighted his goal to create awareness about the aspirations of Jammu & Kashmir youth in Delhi, stating, “We should actually convince the Parliament and people of India that integration of J&K youth can’t be through UAPA, jails, NIA, SIA, and force. We need to talk to our youth, and we need to forgive and forget a lot of things. The Parliament of India has to rise to the occasion and say there has to be a massive amnesty and drop all the charges against the youth to let them reintegrate.”
