Srinagar, May 02: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has nominated the public park of the Municipal Committee Kunzer for the national awards under the green species category.
Mir Tafveez, the Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee Kunzer told Rising Kashmir that the park has been recognized for its exceptional features and is expected to receive a national award in the Green species Category. One of the park’s unique qualities is its dedicated space that caters to people of all age groups.
Tafveez said that the park boasts a variety of flowers, trees, and seating arrangements for adults, enhancing its overall beauty. Additionally, there is a separate children’s area equipped with an open-air gym and other necessary facilities, allowing children to engage in various activities.
“The urban local bodies Kashmir are committed to providing platforms for children, local youths, and senior citizens to enjoy their time while visiting this park. Tourists, local visitors, and school-going children visit this park on a daily basis, making it a popular attraction for the local community,” He said.
Executive officer said that the influx of tourists and local visitors has created employment opportunities for the local youth, who earn their livelihood through the increased footfall.
“We are also planning to install decorative lights, water ATM facilities, upgrade the existing public conveniences, and increase the seating capacity in this park,” He said
Tafveez further said that the entry fee for the parks has been set at Rs 10, which is considered a standard rate. The revenue generated from these two parks is utilized for the maintenance of the parks, ensuring that sanitation and garden upkeep are also taken care of using this fund.
