Doda admin gears up to frame District plan to promote Agro start ups

Doda, Sep 18: In compliance to the instructions of   Lieutenant Governor, J&K, District Administration Doda is gearing up to fame a comprehensive plan to promote Agro industry in the district.
In this regard, District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan on Sunday chaired a meeting and discussed the contours of the District Agro Plan with the stakeholder departments.
The DDC laid emphasis on the engagement of Young Entrepreneurs including females for establishing start-ups in Agriculture and allied sectors. He directed them to find out new market linkages, clusters and recognize other important parameters to increase the Agro industrial activities in the district. “The move will not only give direct benefits to the farmers  but also create job avenues in the enterprises, production  and processing units in poultry, horticulture, Animal and Sheep husbandry sectors” he said.
The DDC said “The aim of this policy paper of Agro sector is to enhance the agro activities in the district by new technological interventions, skill enhancement and guidance.”
The DDC asked the participants to identify clusters of organic farming for the certification of local produce and its projection on the  platforms with potentially good market chains. He further directed to identify  progressive young farmers and aware them about the new means and technologies being applied in the agriculture and other allied sectors to increase production.
Further, the DDC Doda directed the concerned departments  to share the details of SHGs operational in the district so that they shall also be taken on board under the district Agroplan.The departments were further asked to adopt a convergence approach while framing the District plan to effectively meet the aspirations of the farmers.
Among others present in the meeting were CPO Doda, CHO Doda, Area Marketing Officer Doda, CAO Doda, CAHO Doda, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, besides the representative of NRLM and and resource person of District Skill Committee were also present.
