Srinagar, Sep 30: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh Sunday that terror outfits are facing leadership crisis in valley and so far this year 40 foreign terrorists have been killed by security forces.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar on the sidelines of Kashmir Marathon-2022 organized by the J&K police, he said all terrorist outfits are facing a leadership crisis and their infrastructure stands dismantled to a great extent.
“This year our special focus remained on foreign terrorists who are misleading and misguiding our youth to join terror ranks and during the process, we have been able to eliminate around 40 foreign terrorists,” he said.
The DGP Singh said most of the slain terrorists belonged to LeT or Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfits. While the hunt for remaining is underway by security agencies, he said.
The Police Chief said Pak-based agencies are trying to have the command of terror groups, particularly Jaish and LeT in the hands of foreign terrorists so that they could fulfill their evil designs.
About infiltration, the DGP said in comparison the situation is by and large under control. Some attempts are time and again made to push the terrorists here and in recent past infiltration attempts were foiled in Rajouri-Poonch, Kupwara-Baramulla areas.
“Some terrorists managed to sneak in, most of them have been neutralized and manhunt in on to track down the others. Pakistan is trying to push in as many terrorists as possible in winter. It is always difficult to cross the border and border grid is very strong to foil their evil attempts,” he said.
DGP Singh said Pak agencies are trying to create some new groups in Kashmir. They are sending readymade IEDs to create disturbance and their each and every anti-peace attempt would be foiled with fortitude, he said.
“Police are working on a strategy to bust this new strategy. “The readymade IEDs are low cost for terrorists and in fact, a new strategy aimed at inflicting maximum damage to forces and less to terrorists,” he said.
DGP Singh said it is a new strategy by terrorists and such consignments were seized in Jammu that were airdropped through drones along the border,” he said.
He said there has been an evident drop in local terror outfit recruitments.
The youngsters of Valley prefer to make their careers in various fields. Stone pelting has completely stopped over the past three years and local terror recruitment too has dropped to almost zero, the police chief said.
He said Jammu and Kashmir police is organizing various events under different sports categories to hone the talent of the JK youth.
“This Marathon event witnessed a record participation in which people from different age groups including specially-abled kids participated,” the DGP said.
