Srinagar, Oct 31: The Union government has granted gold and silver awards to the district administrations of Srinagar and Ramban for their remarkable work in e-governance to improve life of the citizens.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions (Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances)has announced the awards in a communique, reviewed by Rising Kashmir, to the respective districts.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has congratulated the Deputy Commissioners of both the districts for the achievements.

The LG tweeted: “A well-deserved Gold for Team @srinagaradmin in e-Governance. Congratulations and best wishes for outstanding work  @AsadamAijaz and officials for translating the grand vision of digitally empowered society into reality.”

In another tweet, the LG said:“Congratulations @mussarat_zia  and district Ramban officials for the Silver Award. My best wishes to the entire eGovernance team for their tireless effort in building digitally empowered society & improving the life of every citizen.”

Srinagar has won Gold Award in the category of Excellence in District Level Initiative in e-Governance by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, GoI. It carries citation and a cash prize of Rs 5.00 lakh.

Similarly, Ramban has won Silver Award in the category of ‘Excellence in District Level Initiative in e-Governance’. It carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs 3.00 lakh.

Talking to Rising Kashmir Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Zia said the e-Suvidha (facility) was a novel idea in a rural district like Ramban.

“The app provides access to people to basic services like plumbing, electric works, mobile and laptop troubleshooting, masonry and skilled jobs on a digital platform on their smartphones. The application links many important departments like Health, Common Service Centres, Food & Civil Supplies, Banks and other financial institutions. It was a novel idea in a rural district like Ramban. Consumers can get access to basic services. We are now upgrading the database and the app with more services,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Aijaz Asad told Rising Kashmir that digital initiative was started during covid times to provide a learning platform to the students.

“It is a web-based platform that provides a comprehensive interface involving a gamified way of learning where the concepts can be gained up to mark.
The dashboard provided individual log-in IDs to the students to monitor their progress,” he said.

Asad said it provides a regular feedback mechanism that can be monitored by the students’ parents and teachers also, adding, those students who had no access to digital devices were connected through dedicated computer labs set up at several places.

Assad said the “Honourable Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Ji” has been laying emphasis on taking digital initiatives that have paved the way for this digital platform and it has been appreciated under e-Governance.
