Three cops have been suspended in Rajouri district after mysterious death of a man in Dagal village of the district on Saturday evening even as locals alleged the man died due to carelessness of the cops.

Senior superintendent of police Rajouri, Mohammad Aslam told that three police personnel deployed at police Naka Bakhar have been suspended for carelessness and not taking the man to hospital.

He said they have started investigation into the matter and inquest proceedings under CrPC 174 have been initiated.

On Saturday evening, villagers of Dagal and nearby areas of Rajouri district held a protest demonstration the death of the man identified as Sher Singh (23) son of Chatar Singh.

They said the deceased used to work in Sunderbani as a labourer and was returning for home to take part in Lohri festival but he went missing on the way.

“On Friday we came to know that he was lying in inebriated condition at Siot after which team of police from Bakhar police post took him along but he died later,” they alleged.

The protestors alleged that the man has died due to the carelessness of the cops and blocked the road, demanding a proper investigation into the matter.

Later, additional deputy commissioner Kalakote, Krishan Lal and SDPO Nowshera Tusif Ahmed reached to the spot and assured protestors that the matter will be probed—(KNO)
