‘My Town My Pride’: Ensure doorstep delivery of services: DC B’la to Officials

Baramulla, December 05: The District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Sehrish Asgar Monday directed the officers to ensure doorstep delivery of services to the people here in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar visited Sopore and inspected stalls installed by various departments as part of the government’s ambitious programme ‘My Town My Pride’.
The 2nd phase of ‘My Town My Pride’ kick-started here in all the municipalities of district Baramulla with an aim to provide every service to the people at their doorsteps besides disseminating necessary information and services to the concerned stakeholders.
On this occasion, the Inspector General of Registrations Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Arshad Ayoub, Director General, Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Khan attended the Programme as visiting officers at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.
An official of MC Sopore said that DC Baramulla held an interaction with public representatives, civil society members, prominent citizens of Sopore and discussed various issues pertaining to the development of the town.
The DC Baramulla sensitized the participants about measures taken by the government to fulfil the developmental requirements of the town under different sectors.
President MC Sopore Masarat Kar said that the Deputy Commissioner heard the issues and grievances of the public and issued on spot directions to the concerned officers of line departments to look into the issues of the people so that they are redressed on priority.
Meanwhile in Baramulla the visiting officers inspected various stalls installed by the Health Department, Education Department, Social Welfare Department, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture Department, Youth Services and Sports.
While addressing the gathering of officials and citizens of Baramulla, the Inspector General of Registrations Jammu and Kashmir said that My Town, My Pride, aims to deliver public services at doorsteps, build developmental initiatives on the feedback, cooperation and participation from people and strengthen strong and vibrant local self-governance.
“Jan-Bhagidari is the key pillar of development and essential for economic and cultural rejuvenation of the cities,” he said.
Director General, Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir said that as part of the program, various services of different departments are being provided to the people in municipalities at their doorsteps along with organisation of multifaceted activities.
He further mentioned that the government’s thrust is to ensure that the benefits of different schemes and programmes percolate to the beneficiaries in the urban areas, more effectively.
The visiting officers also handed over certificates and letters, land pass books and other equipment to beneficiaries.
On the first day of the program, the visiting officers discussed various issues pertaining to the development of Baramulla town with public representatives, besides sensitising the participants about measures taken by the government to fulfil the developmental requirements of the town under different sectors.The visiting officers inspected Government Medical College Baramulla and checked the overall functioning of the Medical College and healthcare facilities provided to the patients.
