Chadoora, Dec 05: Prominent Politician Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) visited Karnabal area in Halqa Summerbugh, Block B.K Pora where he chaired an important worker’s meeting and discussed numerous matters pertaining to resolution of pending public issues.
In his statement, Zaffer said the workers informed him about facing colossal difficulties in view of the immense lack of basic amenities like potable water, dilapidated road condition and defective electric distribution system.
“This has surprised me that an overhead tank for maintaining ample water supply to this area was built during the Ministerial tenure of Late Mir Lasjan in 1972 and nothing has changed since then. Even the power distribution system continues to remain the same since then which implies that five decades on and the development witnessed by the locals here is next to zero. The whole area of Halqa Summerbugh appears to be pushed to medieval times,” he remarked.
Zaffer asserted that local inhabitants of this area are primarily laborers whose livelihood solely depends on sand extraction besides a section of the population has also migrated from Dal Lake but the situation here is extremely pathetic for which both NC and PDP are completely responsible.
“These vicinities have been never visited by the successive leaders of the past political regimes. These people live under appalling civic and unhygienic circumstances where even sewage systems have never been mended. Shouldn’t the NC and PDP governments be held accountable for this misgovernance,” Mir questioned with dismay.
Zaffer said that elected public representatives of NC have ruled over Chadoora constituency for 22 years, while PDP representatives for 18 years but the Halqa Summerbugh is merely a few hundred meters from district Srinagar and people are relentlessly suffering for basic infrastructure and essential government facilities.
“This anarchy can’t be allowed to continue any further. The people, especially our energetic and talented youth must come to the front and join hands to secure their future and pledge not to fall for emotive speeches and hollow promises so that the dream to make Chadoora, a model constituency is realised.
Moreover, Zaffer impressed on the workers to disseminate the message among the masses about the conduction of local body and Assembly election at any time and to make the right choice while casting their valuable votes.
The workers praised the work of local Sarpanch and Panchs for remaining always available at their beck and call and easing out their problems. During this meeting, the local Panchayat Body and many other political workers joined Zaffer Mir and pledged to remain sincere to his agenda of public welfare and development.
