MeT predicts two-day wet spell in Kashmir from Sunday

As the weather conditions improved in Kashmir, the weatherman on Friday predicted another two-day wet spell in the Valley Kashmir from February 19.

 

Deputy Director, Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told that the weather would remain mainly dry tomorrow while there is a possibility of light rain and snow at isolated higher reaches of Kashmir on February 19.

 

With the possibility of light rains, snow at isolated higher reaches of Kashmir, the weather would remain generally cloudy, he said, adding that on February 20th, there is a possibility of light rain in plains and light to moderate rain and snow in middle and higher reaches during 20th late afternoon to early morning of February 21st.

 

He further informed that from February 21-24th, the weather would remain occasionally cloudy with mainly dry weather.

 

The Meteorological department has also advised people to stay alert and away from avalanche prone areas.

 

Pertinently, the night temperature has increased at most stations of the Valley with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recording a low of 2.8 degree Celsius.

 

The data available reads that Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded below sub-zero temperature at minus 0.9 degree Celsius. It added that Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded 0.2 degree Celsius.

 

It further added that minimum temperature at Kupwara, Qazigund and Kokernag was settled at 0.6 degree Celsius, 1.8 degree Celsius and 0.6 degree Celsius respectively—(KNO)
