Leh: Union Territory of Ladakh to soon start Hydrogen based vehicles on pilot basis.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to LG Ladakh lauded the upcoming eco-friendly initiative led by concerned officers: the trial run of Hydrogen-fuelled buses in Ladakh.
The Advisor ceremoniously inaugurated the Energy Hub (Petrol Pump) established by Sindhu Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) at SIDCO Transport Depot, New Bus Stand in Leh
Dr. Kotwal said that the inauguration of the Energy Hub stands as a testament to SIDCO’s commitment to sustainable progress and innovation. It signifies a significant stride towards Ladakh’s holistic development, bolstering its stance as a model for environmentally conscious advancements.
During the inaugural event, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Managing Director of SIDCO, provided a comprehensive overview of the organization’s initiatives and progress. He highlighted the rapid advancements that SIDCO has been making in enhancing the lives of the Ladakhi population, underlining its pivotal role in driving the growth and development of the region and providing employment.
Commending the tireless efforts of SIDCO, Dr. Kotwal expressed his appreciation for the collaborative approach adopted by various departments and stakeholders.
He applauded the successful endeavours of SIDCO, which have now become integral components of Ladakh’s administration. Dr. Kotwal also lauded the upcoming eco-friendly initiative led by concerned officers: the trial run of Hydrogen-fuelled buses in Ladakh. These buses utilize hydrogen and air to generate electricity, emitting only water as a byproduct.
Dr. Kotwal accentuated SIDCO’s dedication to making Ladakh a carbon-free region, particularly through the introduction of electric vehicles. He emphasized that hydrogen-powered buses, like electric buses, employ fuel cells to produce electricity without any carbon emissions.
The advisor emphasized the importance of efficiently managing these valuable assets within SIDCO’s purview. As part of his visit, he conducted an on-site inspection of the electric bus stand.
Distinguished dignitaries present at the event included Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Commissioner Secretary and Managing Director of SIDCO; Amit Sharma, Administrative Secretary of the Transport Department; Lakshay Singhal, Executive Director of SIDCO, Ladakh; Dr. Safdar Ali, General Manager of Finance at SIDCO; Ashok, Manager Retail Sales at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Jammu Divisional Office; SkalzangDolker, Senior Manager Retail Sales, Leh Sales Area, Jammu Divisional Office, and other prominent officials from various corporations.
