Imad Ur Rehman (Imadclicks), a Srinagar-based content creator’s pictures have featured the global audiences at Piccadilly Circus in London following a global competition.
Hailing from Lal Bazar locality in Srinagar, Imad said earlier this year he went to Samboora, a village in Pampore area of south Kashmir to capture pictures of Dr Sarmista, an Indian actress who had then come to Kashmir to take pictures at greenland having wild tulips.
The Indian actress, who has worked in many serials on Star Plus, took the pictures in a traditional Kashmiri Pheran dress made locally and these went viral on social media.
Later, Imad submitted these pictures in a global competition for Samsung to get featured at Piccadilly and his photographs were selected. Imad said he took the pictures from a Samsung phone.
“Great feeling, extremely glad to see my work getting featured on London’s Piccadilly Billboard, one of the world’s most iconic billboards. It is history and our Pampore has made it straight to Landon,” he said after the pictures were pasted on the billboard.
“This is very important as it was a global competition for Samsung creators to get featured at Piccadilly and getting recognized at such a big platform is itself an achievement. By this Kashmiri culture will get internationalized. This is for the first time that pictures from Kashmir have made it on such a huge platform,” he said.
Imad has been picturing Kashmir valley for years now and his ability to create unique content regularly has made him a celebrated content creator of present Kashmir.
Piccadilly Circus is one of London’s busiest intersections, with an estimated 100 million people passing through it each year, making it a prime advertising space for businesses.
The company that owns the billboard named Piccadilly Lights is called Landsec. However, some companies that offer advertising on Piccadilly Circus include Ocean Outdoor, OOH International and Five Tier.
