Srinagar, Feb 22: As part of ongoing preparations for upcoming G20 events in Srinagar, the Wildlife Department Kashmir is all set to beautify Dachigam National Park in Srinagar with a slew of measures being taken in this regard.
DFO Wildlife, Central Division (Srinagar), Altaf Hussain said they are working to speed up works on the overall beautification of the park which is aimed to add a majestic view to attract more visitors and tourists.
“We will be doing the facelift of the main entrance for which we will use a nature-based architect having theme-based information along the road from gate 1 to VIP guest house,” he said.
The conference hall at Dachigam would also be upgraded with all the high-end audio-visual equipment to show the documentaries to visitors.
From outside the boundaries of the park (Harwan to Dachigam gate) there would be intervention of different departments for repairing of roads, facelifting of walls, beautifying the footpaths etc.
“Dachigam is already a beautiful place to visit but some minor theme-based changes are needed to add to its beauty without changing its original landscape,” Hussain said.
Similarly, the Wildlife Department will also renovate and face-lift the Fisheries Department’s infrastructure including the outer walling of fish ponds and walls located inside the park.
“There are some unused water pipes in the premises of Dachigam Park and those also will be shifted without any delay,” he said.
“Dachigam is an anticipated destination and we are anticipating that high-level delegates of the G20 Summit may visit there,” the DFO said, adding “the move is also aimed to attract tourists to the place and will also help in tourism promotion.”
