Srinagar, Aug 03: In an effort to promote the participation of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in its procurements, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) conducted a highly successful Vendor Development Program at the Kashmir International Convention Center in Srinagar. The event was organized in association with the Branch MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Srinagar, further highlighting POWERGRID’s commitment to fostering collaboration with local businesses.
Led by the Executive Director, Rajesh Kumar, senior officials from POWERGRID’s Northern Region-II played a pivotal role in guiding the proceedings. The participation of Anil Sharma, CGM (Projects), Shafat Ahmad Wani, Senior GM (Ladakh & Kashmir), Arshad Iqbal, GM (C&M), K V Sampath Kumar, GM (Finance), Vinod P Baxla, GM (HR), and Amit Patel, Senior DGM (C&M), underscored the significance of this event in the organization’s vision.
Addressing the MSME vendors in his speech, Rajesh Kumar emphasized the vital role that these enterprises play in nation-building and encouraged them to partner with POWERGRID. He reiterated the program’s purpose of facilitating their participation in various tenders floated by POWERGRID. The event witnessed active engagement from the participants, with queries ranging from registration on the GeM portal to exploring business prospects in POWERGRID tenders.
During the program, the representatives explained various beneficial schemes of the Government of India and CPSUs, demonstrating POWERGRID’s commitment to empowering local businesses. The participants showed keen interest and enthusiasm, as the program shed light on the POWERGRID PRANIT portal, Quality Assessment, and the benefits extended to MSME vendors.
Around 60 MSME vendors from the valley participated in the Vendor Development Program, reflecting the event’s far-reaching impact. The program fostered interactive sessions that allowed fruitful discussions and knowledge-sharing among all stakeholders.
The success of POWERGRID’s approach lies in its adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, emphasizing automation and digital solutions. As a result, POWERGRID has maintained an impressive average transmission system availability of 99 percent, further bolstering the organization’s reputation.
With its regional headquarters based in Jammu, POWERGRID serves the Northern Region-II, covering states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Haryana and UT of Chandigarh, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Through its efficient and robust transmission system comprising 174,625 km of transmission lines and 274 sub-stations, POWERGRID has demonstrated excellence in its performance, consistently achieving the set parameters in its MoU with the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The Vendor Development Program was a resounding success, leaving participants appreciative of POWERGRID’s efforts to create opportunities for MSMEs.
