Two die, seven  injured in Awantipora road accident

Pulwama, May 18 : Two passengers were killedand seven others were injured in a road accident on Srinagar Jammu National Highway ( NH) in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
The accident occurred on Thursday at around 7:30 AM in Awantipora when a tempo traveller carrying labourers from several states was travelling from Jammu to Srinagar, informed Tehsildar Awantipora, Shakeel Ahmad.
He said that rescue teamsrushed to the spot immediately, adding, two passengers died on the spot and seven others were injured.
“The injured were evacuated to nearby  Primary Health Centre(PHC) at Awantipora,” he said.
Out of the seven injured, two were sent to the Government Bone and Joint Surgery Hospital in Barzulla, four were sent to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital in Karan Nagar for specialised care, and one was treated for a superficial injury at the Subdistrict Hospital (SDH) Pampore, according to doctors at PHC Awantipora.
Tehsildar Pampore said that the two bodies were shifted to PCR where they will be dispatched to their respective home states by the district administration.He also said that on instructions of Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama  ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 each has been sanctioned for those injured in the accident. He said ex-gratia for the deceased will be decided separately.
Officials identified the deceased as  Laksham Dumka of  Jharkhand and Suman Devi of Chattarpure Madhya Pradesh ( MP).
The  injured were identified as GajanderRajpoot of MP,  Delep Kumar of Jharkhand, Akash of MP, Shantilal of Jharkhand, Hashim of Jharkhand, Kalkoup of Jharkhand and Ajay dev Rajpoot of MP.
Pertinent to mention, on March 28, 2023, four labourers were killed and 28 injured on NH in a similar passenger bus accident near Awantipora.
