Srinagar, O3 Oct: Two Army personnel were injured in the early hours of Tuesday during an ongoing operation to flush out terrorists in dense forests of Kalakote area in Rajouri district.
A senior Army officer told Rising Kashmir that on Monday late night following terrorists’ inputs, a joint party of security forces cordoned off Broh area of Kalakote’s Tata Pani of Rajouri district.
“Two to Three terrorists opened fire in an indiscriminate manner that resulted in injuries to two army personnel . Both were evacuated to hospital. Their condition is said to be stable,” he said.
Army on Tuesday said that an anti-terrorist operation in on Tuesday entered second day and operation is being conducted in difficult terrain; therefore, it is being done very deliberately to avoid collateral damage
PRO(Defence) Jammu Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said that post 13 September 23 successful operation in the same area, due to continuous intelligence flow, area domination and resultant pressure on the terrorists.
“A specific intelligence about the move of some unidentified individuals was received on 01 Oct by JKP. Joint operation by the Indian Army and JKP was launched in the general area of Kalakote. Presently, intense operations are under progress,” he said.
Lt. Sushil said the operation is still under progress. There was timely and accurate intelligence. Army is in full synergy working with JKP. Operation is being conducted in Different terrain; therefore it is being done very deliberately to avoid collateral damage. Full support being provided by Awaam in the operation,” he said.
In the last nine months, the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch have witnessed the killing of 18 people, including 11 soldiers. Security forces have killed more than half a dozen terrorists in the past three months
