Pulwama, Sept 05 : Educators in Jammu and Kashmir have lauded the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) as a transformative educational tool, in perfect harmony with  National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Imtiyaz Ahmad, an HPC resource person from Pulwama, emphasized that this multidimensional 360-degree assessment system has the potential to unlock each child’s unique potential.

He said that HPC is a revolutionary tool with the potential to bring about a paradigm shift in the nature of pedagogy, teaching, and learning processes, as well as assessment practices.

“The HPC system will continuously evaluate students throughout the year, focusing on a range of competencies,” he said, adding that it will discourage rote memorisation among students.

According to Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad, another HPC resource person, this tool offers a dynamic representation of a student’s learning trajectory at various intervals.
He said that under NEP 2020, every child will have a comprehensive profile from admission to the end of an academic session, with every assessment meticulously recorded.

“The six developmental domains shaping a child’s profile include physical development, cognitive development, language and numeracy development, emotional development, cultural, and aesthetic development and positive thinking” he said, adding that gradual progression of a child’s profile with respect to these domains will go into HPC.

He added that students will be assessed continuously by their teachers, parents, peers, self-evaluation, and other members of the school community.

The resource persons informed that modules for HPC have been crafted by  National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

They said that academicians and experts at JK SCERT are currently in the process of refining these templates to ensure seamless adoption.

This innovative approach to assessment promises to revolutionize the educational landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on nurturing holistic development and celebrating the individuality of each student.
