DC Jammu sets target of 12500 skill development trainings

District Development Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today presided over a meeting to assess skill development activities in the district.

The meeting, which included representatives from different departments, institutes and organisations involved in skill training, entrepreneurship development and other initiatives, aimed to align and focus their efforts for better implementation and public benefit.

The meeting set an ambitious target of providing approximately 12,500 skill development training opportunities.

The DDC assigned specific targets to each organisation, emphasising the importance of imparting skill training and self-employment opportunities to eligible youth and adults.

The participants included officers from the Rural Development Department, PM Mahila Shakti Kendra, Industries Department, Employment and Counselling Department, SBI, RSETI, Handlooms Department, JKEDI, KVIB, Government Polytechnic and Industrial Training Institute and others.

Addressing the assembly, the DDC underscored the vital role of rural and border populations in the district’s development. He expressed a commitment to supporting these communities by facilitating outreach efforts, regardless of their geographical location.

A particular focus of the meeting was women empowerment. The DDC lauded the talent and progressiveness of women and stressed the need to provide them with equal opportunities to participate in the economy and secure dignified livelihoods.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Sandeep Seointra; Assistant Commissioner Development, Preeti Sharma, Lead District Manager SBI, the Principals of Government Polytechnic Colleges and Industrial Training Institutes besides others were part of the meeting.
