Jammu, Oct 08: Apni Party Spokesperson and State General Secretary Youth Wing, Abhay Bakaya on Sunday said that the government’s delay in de-notification of Gair Mumkin Khad in Jammu and Kashmir is causing hardship to the people.
In a statement issued here, Bakaya said the Gair Mumkin Khad is a land that does not form part of any watercourse or source but has been recorded as such in revenue records. He said the government had set into motion the process for delineation and demarcation of Gair Mumkin Khads, but many deadlines have been missed
However, the issue still remains unresolved, and the people are facing difficulties due to the delay, he said, adding that the delay in resolving the issue has caused inconvenience to the people, and they are eagerly waiting for a solution.
“We hope the government will take swift action to resolve the issue of Gair Mumkin Khad and provide relief to the people. The Gair Mumkin Khad lands constitute a major part of the planning in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
“Therefore, it is essential that the government takes immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure that the people do not face any further hardship. We urge the government to expedite the process of de-notification of Gair Mumkin Khad and provide relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Abhay said.
He said the property holders and the buyers are among the worst affected because of restrictions on the Gair Mumin Khand that need to be lifted to ensure that the people do not suffer. “Jammu has mostly inhabited Gair Mumin Khad land since Maharaja’s time. Hence, the de-notification of the Gair Mumin Khad land is important to restore the land rights of the property holders and buyers in Jammu and its adjoining areas,” Bakaya added.
