Srinagar, Oct 8: The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the ongoing hostilities between Hamas and Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the tragic loss of numerous lives and escalating humanitarian crises.
These attacks and counterattacks must come to an immediate end to prevent further casualties and suffering, the party said in a statement issued here.
“The most right-wing Netanyahu government in Israel has been indiscriminately occupying Palestine lands and establishing Jewish settlements in the West Bank. So far this year, prior to this conflict, 248 Palestinian lives have been lost including 40 children,” the statement said.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has called upon the United Nations to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, advocating for a homeland, and the withdrawal of all “illegal Israeli settlements and occupations” in Palestine lands.
The implementation of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution for a two-nation solution is imperative, the party said while emphasising the need for Palestine, in line with the UN resolution, to have East Jerusalem as its capital.
The CPI(M) has called upon the international community including the Government of India to ensure the immediate cessation of this conflict and act for the implementation of the UN resolution.
