Jammu, Jan 10: In a significant display of public engagement, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha actively participated in the Block Diwas program organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration at Bhalwal today.
Commending the enthusiastic response from the community, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised the pivotal role of the Jan-Bhagidari campaign in fortifying participatory governance. He underscored the campaign’s impact on empowering citizens, fostering awareness about responsibilities, and ensuring accountability among administrative officers.
Lt Governor Sinha urged every segment of society to take dedicated initiatives, striving to make their respective panchayats cleaner, more livable, achieve 100% literacy, maintain green spaces, and ensure 100% saturation of all government schemes.
“The sense of commitment and duty among citizens toward society and their respective panchayats will enhance the quality of life and pave the way to prosperity,” stated the Lt Governor.
Highlighting the monumental participation in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and the achievement of 100% saturation in all schemes, Lt Governor Sinha expressed confidence that these efforts would eliminate developmental imbalances and provide a significant boost to the local economy.
Reiterating the commitment of the UT Administration to equitable and inclusive development, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the priority given to the poor and underprivileged in accessing government resources. He also highlighted efforts to promote regional languages, connect remaining panchayats with roads, boost industries, enhance religious tourism, and tap the potential of the Agriculture & Allied sector.
In addition to central government schemes, Lt Governor Sinha informed that the J&K UT administration is running over a dozen self-employment schemes, aiming to provide resources and training to youth for starting their own businesses, potentially serving as a game-changer in both urban and rural areas.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Sinha urged the public to collaborate with Civil Administration and Police in intensifying the crackdown on the drug supply chain, aiming to make their Panchayat Nasha-Mukt (drug-free).
Assuring former PRI members that their suggestions and genuine demands would be considered in the planning of the District Capex Budget, Lt Governor Sinha directed the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu to comprehensively review the development of playfields in the district’s panchayats. He emphasized the goal of ensuring that every panchayat in Jammu District, where land is available, has a playfield by the end of April.
During the Block Diwas program, Lt Governor Sinha inspected stalls set up by various departments, inquired about citizen grievances, and handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries under different government schemes.
The event witnessed the presence of Bharat Bhushan, Chairman of the District Development Council Jammu, Anand Jain (ADGP, Jammu), Ramesh Kumar (Divisional Commissioner Jammu), Sachin Kumar Vaishya (Deputy Commissioner Jammu), senior officers, former PRI members, and a large number of attendees.
