Srinagar, Nov 16: The Agriculture Department Kashmir has started a series of awareness programs aimed to ensure the saturation of flagship schemes of the Government of India.
Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Muhammad Iqbal, said that the major programs under the banner of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on November 15, would be held in their department.
Iqbal said that the programs would be held in different panchayats across Jammu and Kashmir to inform people, especially farmers, about the welfare schemes of the government.
He said specially designed IEC (Information, Education and Communication) vans will visit all panchayats along with officials of agriculture and allied departments to inform people.
“During the programs, the officials would be traveling in the IEC van and every official would have to interact with at least 10 farmers per panchayat and inform them about the government schemes aimed at uplifting the farmers,” he said.
The director said farmers would be informed about Soil Health Card, PM Kissan, KCC and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He said that outreach programs would continue for a period of two months.
The department started many programs through which youth are being encouraged across Kashmir to take part in entrepreneurship and are informed about several schemes.
“Our officials will also tell the success stories of the progressive farmers which encourage others to work hard and make efforts to earn livelihood by turning to agriculture,” he said.
The director said that by such programs the youth will get inspiration and stress on ensuring large-scale awareness of welfare schemes for the benefit of people of Kargil.
Viksit Bharat Sanklap Yatra focuses on reaching out to people and creating awareness and providing benefits of welfare schemes. Through this program enrolment of potential beneficiaries will also be done through details ascertained during the yatra.
