Srinagar, Aug 06: KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK) Ganderbal organised a vibrant and informative “Grapes Day” on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Model Vineyard at KralbaghLar, Ganderbal. The event aimed to showcase the grape cultivation potential of the region and encourage scientific practices among local farmers.According to a statement issued here, the event was graced by Nuzhat Ishfaq, DDC Chairperson, Ganderbal, as the Chief Guest and Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, as the guest of honour. The event was also graced by Aneet Kanwal Singh Bagee, Deputy General Manager J&K Bank besides officers from SKUAST-k and line departments and a large number of farmers from different villages across Ganderbal.Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Malik, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Ganderbal acknowledged the significant contribution of Ganderbal especially the Lar belt in producing world-renowned quality grapes and emphasized the importance of adopting modern viticulture practices. Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, SMS horticulture, served as the stage in-chargeOn the occasion, Nuzhat Ishfaq distributed Kissan Credit Cards (KCCs) among farmers and encouraged them to actively engage in such knowledge-sharing platforms. She highlighted the role of such initiatives in empowering the farming community and enhancing productivity. In her remarks, Nuzhat Ishfaq urged farmers to attend such programs regularly to stay informed about evolving agricultural practices. She appreciated KVK Ganderbal for organizing the event.Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, emphasised the need for sensitizing farmers to various government initiatives. Deputy General Manager from J&K Bank Aneet Kanwal Singh Bagee discussed financial schemes and distributed KCC cards among the farmers.A technical session was conducted by Prof. Urusa Khalil (Fruit Science, SKUAST-K), who guided farmers on best practices in grape cultivation to enhance productivity and global recognition. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shaheen Farooq, SMS Animal Science, KVK Ganderbal.
