Srinagar, Nov 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Kashmir Chamber of Industry & Commerce (KCCI) stalls at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The day was celebrated as “Kashmir Divas” at the fair.
Accompanied by the President of KCCI, Javed Tenga, Trade Fair Committee Chairman Muzaffar Majid, Treasurer Zubair Mahajan, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Commissioner Industries & Commerce Vikramjit Singh, and JKTPO Managing Director Khalid Jehangir, the Lt Governor explored various stalls, a statement issued by KKCI said.
This marked the first time that KCCI participated in IITF, the statement said. The LG inaugurated the fair and spent time with the participants, highlighting the significance of the event as one of the most visited trade fairs where participants achieved substantial sales.
“During his visit, LG Sinha also toured the Kashmir Trade Fair Organisation (JKTPO) Exhibition Hall. Addressing a large gathering at IITF, he paid tributes to the artistry and workmanship of Kashmiri artisans and weavers. He expressed pride in stating that Kashmiri art, culture, handicrafts, and heritage crafts have no parallel in the world,” the KCCI said.
Commending the master craftsmen for taking their craft to the highest levels, the Lt Governor mentioned the geographical indication (GI) tagging of more than 10 products, emphasizing its role in promoting and growing Kashmir handicrafts. He, along with other officials, appreciated the KCCI for its efforts in promoting Kashmiri products.
