Traffic advisory for July 11 issued for Jammu-Sgr highway amid Yatra rush

Srinagar, July 10: The Traffic Police headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a detailed advisory for July 11 for the commuters and transporters using the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), highlighting route restrictions and safety protocols in view of ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and difficult road conditions caused by recent vehicle breakdowns and landslides.A statement issued here said that as per the traffic plan for July 11, subject to fair weather and road clearance, passenger vehicles, LMVs and SANJY convoy will be allowed from both sides (Jammu-Srinagar). “HMVs will ply on alternate days. Release decisions will be coordinated by TCU Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban. Cut-Off Timings for LMVs/Passenger Cars–Nagrota (Jammu)—Srinagar: 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Jakheni (Udhampur) — Srinagar: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Qazigund-Jammu: 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM,” the advisory reads, adding that the vehicles will not be allowed to move before or after the cut-off timings.“As for the movement of HMVs—vehicles from Valley to Jammu will be allowed from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side), based on road conditions. No HMV shall be released after 7:00 PM,” the advisory reads. “Fuel tankers, LPG trucks and empty FCI vehicles must return to Jammu via Mughal Road as per Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order issued on July 1, 2025 (No. 7055-75).”Regarding other route updates–Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244): LMVs and designated HPSVs will be allowed both ways. Movement timings will be like this—Parana to Anantnag: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Daksum to Kishtwar: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari), Sonamarg- Kargil: 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM,” the advisory reads. Security Forces must plan movement in coordination to avoid affecting the Yatra convoy. “Mughal Road will be open for LMVs both sides (Jammu-Srinagar via Poonch), HMVs (up to 10 tyres) permitted only Shopian-Poonch, with travel hours from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM,” the advisory reads. The general public is advised to check road status before starting their journey by contacting the following Traffic Control Units–Jammu: 0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, 103, Srinagar: 0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103, Ramban: 9419993745, 18001807043, Udhampur: 8491928625, Kishtwar: 9906154100 and Kargil: 9541902330, 9541902331.
