Anantnag, July 9: Marking the return of vibrant sports culture in schools after the summer break, the District Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Office Anantnag inaugurated the District Level Inter-Zonal/School Volleyball Tournament 2025 for Boys on July 9. The event features competitions in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories. As per a statement issued here, the tournament was formally launched at multiple venues, including SRJ Higher Secondary School Khanabal, HSS Brakpora, and Middle School Bondailgam, drawing participation from young volleyball enthusiasts representing various educational zones and higher secondary schools across the district. The initiative aims to promote physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork among school-going youth, while providing a platform for budding athletes to showcase their talent in a structured, competitive environment.Speaking at the opening ceremony, Muhammad Abbas Dar, a senior official of YSS Anantnag, emphasised the importance of sports in shaping the lives of students. “Participation in sports not only strengthens the body but also sharpens the mind, helping students face challenges with confidence and resilience,” he said, encouraging students to pursue excellence both in academics and athletics. The tournament will continue over the coming days, with the winners set to represent the district at higher levels of competition.
