Baltal, July 08: The Food Safety Department, under the supervision of Food Safety Officer Kangan, Fayaz Ahmad, organized a Registration Mela at Baltal on Tuesday to streamline the registration process for Food Business Operators (FBOs) operating in the Baltal area.During the mela, a total of 41 on-spot registrations were issued to FBOs, ensuring compliance with food safety norms during the ongoing pilgrimage season. The initiative aimed to facilitate easy access to official documentation and enhance food safety standards at the base camp.As part of the comprehensive drive, inspections of various langars (community kitchens) were also conducted to assess hygiene practices, food quality, and storage conditions. The inspections were carried out to ensure that pilgrims are served safe and hygienic food.In addition, an awareness program was held for langar operators and food handlers, focusing on personal hygiene, sanitation, and proper storage practices. The session highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness, safe food handling, and temperature-controlled storage to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.Food Safety Officer Fayaz Ahmad emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring that all food served at Baltal meets regulatory standards and provides a safe experience for the yatris (pilgrims).
