Budgam, July 07: Azadars from various districts of Kashmir valley participated in the 11th Muharram procession held in the central Kashmir town of Magam to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.The Budgam Police, the District Administration of Budgam, the Civil Administration of Magam Tehsil, the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora, along with volunteers, established stalls to provide water, juices, and medicines to the Azadars in the area.A blood donation camp was also organized, where Azadars of different age groups voluntarily donated blood during the procession.Some participants were observed thumping their chests while chanting pro-Islamic slogans, with many carrying religious flags in their hands.The 11th Muharram procession began at Yagipora Imambara and moved through the main market of Magam, with the revered Zuljana Sharief being carried by mourners. The procession concluded at Astanpora, following the traditional route.The Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat , along with Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, Nikhil Borkar have also participated in the procession and engaged with the participantsThe Deputy Commissioner of Budgam and the Senior Superintendent of Budgam Police personally distributed refreshments to the Azadars, recognizing their dedication, discipline, and involvement in the religious observance.To ensure the smooth conduct of the procession, the District Administration had made elaborate arrangements well in advance. Civic amenities, including uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, medical facilities, and other essential services, were made available along the procession route. Adequate security measures were also put in place through coordinated efforts of civil and police administration, thereby facilitating a safe and peaceful environment for the mourners.
