Udhampur, Jun 15: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, on Sunday inaugurated the macadamisation work on the Sunal to Krowa road. The project, approved at a sanctioned cost of Rs 6.98 lakh, is set to provide a vital lifeline to approximately one thousand residents by enhancing all-weather connectivity in this remote area.
Locals, who have long faced hardships due to poor road conditions, expressed their heartfelt gratitude as the long-pending demand for a metalled road finally materialised, the MLA’s office said in a statement issued here
While addressing the gathering, Pathania reaffirmed his commitment to developing durable road infrastructure. “Such roads are more than mere structures—they are crucial channels of progress that connect people to opportunities, services, and a better quality of life. A strong, accessible road network is essential for inclusive growth and aligns with his vision of a modern, self-reliant Udhampur.”
He shared details about other ongoing development projects in the region, including the widening of Dhar Road, construction of the Vishal to Rehna Bridge, and the broader Samba–Mansar connectivity initiative—all aimed at transforming transportation and stimulating economic activity. The macadamisation of rural roads like the Sunal–Krowa stretch is part of this larger development roadmap to unlock Udhampur East’s full potential.
During his visit, the MLA inspected the ongoing work on a motorable bridge along the Sunal–Krowa road. Praising the quality and pace of construction, he appreciated the engineering expertise of the executing agency and lauded the prompt delivery of this critical structure. “The bridge would serve as a vital link, especially during monsoons, ensuring uninterrupted access and easing the lives of local residents,” he said.
Apart from road infrastructure, Pathania emphasised the importance of reliable access to drinking water. He directed concerned departments to expedite repairs of non-functional handpumps and ensure continuous tanker supply in water-scarce areas. “Providing potable water to every household remains a top priority, especially during the hot summer months,” he said.
Addressing the ongoing water scarcity issue, the BJP leader expressed concern over the delayed implementation of the Ritti Water Supply Scheme, intended for villages of Sunal and Ritti. He raised serious questions about the use of substandard materials, improper pipe-laying at insufficient depths, and the overall delay in commissioning the scheme. He called for an immediate inquiry into these lapses and urged officials to ensure swift rectification and timely completion, emphasising accountability.
He also urged the Agriculture Department to intensify outreach and awareness campaigns at the grassroots level to empower farmers through knowledge, training, and timely access to government schemes. Similarly, the Horticulture Department was encouraged to promote modern horticultural practices and diversify income sources for rural households.
MLA Pathania reaffirmed his commitment that development efforts must reach every village and ward.
