JAMMU, May 31: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, concluded a two-day visit to Jammu during which he reviewed the operational preparedness of forces in the Pargwal sector of Akhnoor and visited the Tiger Division. He lauded the troops for their outstanding performance during Operation Sindoor.
“He stressed the importance of remaining agile and vigilant in response to evolving security dynamics,” the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army posted on X on Saturday.
General Dwivedi also praised the close operational integration between the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), commending Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari and her team for their bravery in defending forward posts in the Akhnoor sector during the operation.
He acknowledged the valuable support provided by ex-servicemen during Operation Sindoor, underscoring their continued contribution to national security efforts.
The Army Chief arrived in Jammu on Thursday and took part in a high-level security review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Before returning to Delhi on Friday, he presented the Army Chief’s Commendation Disc to Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari in recognition of her exceptional courage and operational proficiency during Operation Sindoor in the Jammu frontier.
Commanding a Border Out Post (BoP) located in close proximity to a Pakistani post along the International Border (IB), Bhandari led her troops in a precise and bold counter-response, successfully silencing three hostile forward posts across the zero line.
