Srinagar, Mar 22:Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo informed the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly that the government is actively working on the rehabilitation of fire victims in Kadipora, Anantnag, and has already made arrangements to assist them.
Addressing the Assembly, Minister Itoo explained that a recent fire in Kadipora had damaged 40 houses. She assured the House that the government is committed to providing full support to the affected families.
“Yesterday (Friday), under the direction of the Chief Minister, a team was sent to assess the situation. I, along with MLAs Pirzada Syed, Altaf Kaloo, and Abdul Majid Larmi, visited the site, interacted with the victims, and witnessed the extent of the damage. The district administration has been instructed to provide food and temporary accommodation,” she said.
Minister Itoo added that a meeting was held with the District Development Commissioner and other relevant officials to discuss relief measures. “The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund will be allocated to the victims, and cheques for natural calamity relief have already been prepared,” she confirmed.
She also mentioned that discussions with district officials included the provision of timber and water to the affected areas. “All necessary instructions have been given, and the government is committed to ensuring proper rehabilitation for the victims,” she said.
Acknowledging the concerns raised by several Assembly members, Itoo reassured the House that the relief fund is being processed swiftly. “The government is determined to support the victims in every possible way,” she reiterated.
“The affected families are mostly from economically weaker sections, and the government is fully committed to their welfare,” she added.
Minister Itoo concluded by assuring the Assembly that, under the Chief Minister’s guidance, all necessary arrangements—including shelter, food, and financial assistance—have either been provided or are in progress.
